Words of Inspiration and Motivation

Free the child potential, and you will transform him into the world.
-Maria Montessori, Founder of Montessori Schools-

"Special Olympics athletes are spokespersons for freedom to live, the freedom to belong, the freedom to contribute, the freedom to have a chance.  And, of all the values that write and inspire us to seek a better world, no value holds a higher place than the value of freedom."
-Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Founder of Special Olympics-

It is not enough for the teacher to love the child.  She must first love and understand the universe.  She must prepare herself, and truly work at it.
-Maria Montessori, Founder of Montessori Schools-

"My passion stems from my personal experience."
"I always wanted to enter education. Fortunately, I entered Early Childhood Education."
"We have a unique opportunity to shape a young life and that is why I am so passionate about this field."

These quotes touched my heart because they say what I believe will make me a more effective Early Childhood Educator.

Personal Childhood Web

Here is a video of my Auntie, Mom, Grandma and Grandpa.

Mom- She worked hard to provide me with a roof over my head and educational opportunities.  She taught me that getting an education is something no one can ever take from you.

Auntie- She provided me with spiritual guidance.  She would include me in different activities at church that allowed me to be a more well rounded individual.  I was taught that what I needed the most was faith.

Grandma- She provided me with history.  I learned about the struggles she had to go through in her time.  It taught me how to appreciate the opportunities I had as a child and pursue a higher education.

Grandpa- He provided me with a father figure.  He exposed me to sports and other outdoor activities.  He made me feel safe and secure.  I knew he would do anything to make me feel good about myself.

Sister- She was always my friend.  I knew that no matter where I needed to go, she would come with me.  She supported me when no one else could see my vision.

How My Family Influenced My Future
Each person had a major influence in what I do today.  I believe in learning as much as I can because knowledge is empowering and no one can take it away from me.  When times get tough, I have faith that things will work out.  History provides me with the opportunity to learn from my mistakes.  I need to make the best of every opportunity.  And I know that no matter what, family is there to support you and love you.  That is the same principle I am passing along to my children.

These are drawings by my children.  It reminds me of the precious early childhood years.  They do not stay preschool age for long.  They are very critical years of development and we should embrace it.

Activities for the Holidays

I found a link that has activities and calendars for the holidays.  Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks can be very long including cold.  It can become very challenging keeping preschoolers busy.  This link will provide different activities and crafts to keep the preschoolers entertained plus learning more.

Kids Zone

I chose the child's drawing of a Kids Zone warning sign.  It is to let those who enter my blog that it is about how we can help kids.  We begin our journey with preschool age kids.
