Here is a video of my Auntie, Mom, Grandma and Grandpa.
Mom- She worked hard to provide me with a roof over my head and educational opportunities. She taught me that getting an education is something no one can ever take from you.
Auntie- She provided me with spiritual guidance. She would include me in different activities at church that allowed me to be a more well rounded individual. I was taught that what I needed the most was faith.
Grandma- She provided me with history. I learned about the struggles she had to go through in her time. It taught me how to appreciate the opportunities I had as a child and pursue a higher education.
Grandpa- He provided me with a father figure. He exposed me to sports and other outdoor activities. He made me feel safe and secure. I knew he would do anything to make me feel good about myself.
Sister- She was always my friend. I knew that no matter where I needed to go, she would come with me. She supported me when no one else could see my vision.
How My Family Influenced My Future
Each person had a major influence in what I do today. I believe in learning as much as I can because knowledge is empowering and no one can take it away from me. When times get tough, I have faith that things will work out. History provides me with the opportunity to learn from my mistakes. I need to make the best of every opportunity. And I know that no matter what, family is there to support you and love you. That is the same principle I am passing along to my children.
"It takes a village to raise a child." -African Proverb-
I love it. There is nothing like FAMILY. I look forward to family gatherings. That is a time when we catch up, eat, party, and just let loose. You have family when you don't have anything else. I saw a lot of women in your video. I am grateful that we had strong women in our lives.
ReplyDeleteI love the love you have for your family. And just like you, each family member has taught me something new about myself and life. i cherish my family and our family gathering. We get together every holiday, and celebrate each other! There is no support greater than your FAMILY. That is what my family has taught me.
